Tottenham rumours: Atletico Madrid want to add a playmaker to their squad and are weighing up a move for Tottenham’s midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The Danish midfielder has refused to sign a contract extension with Spurs. His current contract expires next summer, and Tottenham are now keen to sell him this summer.
Manchester United were also linked with him but a move never really materialised. The former Ajax midfielder first choice is to move to Real Madrid this summer.
The Los Rojiblancos want to create a title-challenging team after departures of a key number of players. Deigo Simone wants a creative midfielder as the final piece of the jigsaw.
Deigo Simone’s first choice for this role is James Rodriguez but Atletico’s chiefs don’t want to negotiate with arch-rivals Real Madrid over any deal, thus they would prefer to negotiate with Spurs.
However, Tottenham want to do business as soon as possible as the transfer window closes on 8th August for them, while for Atleti they can buy players till 2nd September.
