Borussia Dortmund eye Sevilla star as potential Sancho replacement

Amidst the ongoing speculation and all likeliness of the departure of Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund have identified Lucas Ocampos as a probable replacement, according to Bild (via Marca).

Sancho has adapted to senior football and the Bundesliga like a duck to water, accumulating spectacular performances on a repeated basis. The 20-year-old has 17 goals this season, but his creative eye, pace and acceleration have further transformed him into arguably the transfer market’s hottest property.

A host of clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the Englishman, making it almost certain that he would leave BVB at the end of the season.

In order to shore up, Lucien Favre and co. have turned their attention to precocious European talents such as Valencia’s Ferran Torres and Gremio’s Everton Soares.

The latest addition to that shortlist is Ocampos, who has grown into his Sevilla shirt marvelously. He moved from Marseille to the enervating LaLiga, but took little time to find his feet as he went on to score 10 goals and add two assists in 22 outings.

Although his release clause – €70 million – may discourage Dortmund given their knack of handpicking budget stars, the reported €110 million they would receive from Sancho’s transfer could aid their financial freedom.
