Chelsea star set to sign new deal

According to latest updates from Football London, Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is all set to put pen to paper for a contract extension amid intense speculation indicating a transfer.

The news comes following the Frenchman’s rise to form since Tammy Abraham’s injury. He was on the scoresheet in the high-voltage fixture against Spurs as well as in Chelsea’s most recent victory, against Everton.

With a variety of youngsters being blooded in by Frank Lampard all season, Giroud fell behind Abraham and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order, making just five Premier League appearances until as recently as mid-February.

With Inter Milan knocking vigourously, the World Cup winner himself admitted that he did everything in his strengths to force a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to French outlet Telefoot, he conceded:

“Even I saw myself elsewhere to be honest. I went through six complicated months. That’s why I tried to leave in January. I did everything [to leave]. In the end, with the circumstances, Chelsea did not want to let me go. The crucial condition for my departure was to have a replacement.”

However, the Blues are set to reward him with a new deal for the upturn in form and professionalism. Most certainly, Giroud offers something more unique than Abraham in a few departments.

The length of the contract may determine whether he opts to stay or not, as he recently pronounced that he has two-three seasons left in him at the top-flight.
