Odion Ighalo opens up on Manchester United future

Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo has expressed his desire to stay at Old Trafford despite mammoth offers from parent club Shanghai Shenhua. The 30-year-old, inspired by the stature and project of the club, wishes to turn his loan move into a permanent one.

Ighalo, previously in the Premier League with Watford, signed for the Red Devils in the winter transfer window on loan, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men aimed to beef up their forward options with injuries to first-team stars.

He has taken little time to find his feet, having netted four goals already in eight appearances.

Despite a supposed £400k-per-week extension offer, Ighalo said:

“I am inspired by a lot of things at United. I am really inspired and I am looking forward to spending more time with the team. Seeing the club from the outside you don’t know how big it is. But when you are inside you know how big the club is.”

Further heaping praise on the team’s proposition, he continued:

“I am inspired by the way the club is structured, I am inspired by the direction of the club. I am inspired by the development of the young players and how they are coming through from the grassroots to the first-team.”
