Atletico Madrid sign Real Madrid midfielder
Atletico Madrid have confirmed the signing of Marcos Llorente from Real Madrid. The Spanish midfielder has signed a 5-year contract with Los Rojiblancos.
Llorente was linked with a move away last summer as well but the departure of Zinedine Zidane saw the midfielder make a U-turn and stay at Bernabeu. With the manager returning and informing him that he is not in the plans for the future, Llorente decided to leave.
Reports suggest that the deal is worth €40 million and he will be the first of many signings Atletico Madrid are set to make this summer. The Madrid side have let go of several first-team players and have also confirmed that Antoine Griezmann is set to leave soon.
Atletico are set for a squad overhaul this summer and Llorente might be seen as a direct replacement for Rodri. The 22-year-old has informed the Spanish side that he will be leaving and has reportedly snubbed interest from Bayern Munich to join Manchester City. Both clubs have informed Atletico that they are willing to activate his €70 million release clause.
Apart from Llorente, reports suggest that Atletico are also interested in signing Theo Hernandez back from Real Madrid.
