MANCHESTER UNITED CLOSE TO SIGNING FABINHO
Manchester United are in advanced talks with AS Monaco for Fabinho according to Di Marzio. The two clubs are ‘very close’ to agreeing a £44 million deal for the Brazilian.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with the midfielder after during the summer of 2017. The Ligue 1 side chose to hold onto him as Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva had already left.
Fabinho was reportedly disappointed that he could not leave despite interest from ManUtd and PSG. The Red Devils have maintained their interest and are now close to sealing a £44 million deal with Monaco, according to Di Marzio.
The Brazilian can play as a central midfield and also as a right-back. Those two are the main positions that Mourinho has been keen on strengthening.
Antonio Valencia has no competition right now but that has not stopped him from delivering top class performances whenever needed. The main concern for Mourinho is that the right-back is 32 years old and he needs to be replaced soon.
That’s cited as one of the main reasons why the former Chelsea boss has made Fabinho his top priority for the summer.
