Barcelona open to selling star midfielder this summer

If latest reports from Marca are to be believed, Barcelona will place star midfielder Ivan Rakitic on sale this summer as they aim to reap maximum financial profits from his transfer.

The Croatia international has been subject to a departure from the Nou Camp for over a year now, with his contract due to expire at the end of the 2020/21 season.

The Catalan giants will hope to fetch €20 million for the midfielder who initially joined the club back in 2014 from Sevilla for around €18 million.

To sell a player for a similar sum during the embers of his career, after he has served for 299 matches whilst winning 13 trophies, would be considered great business in Barcelona’s perspective.

According to the report, there is one club each from France, Italy, Spain and England ready to hold conversations with the player and his representatives. PL giants Manchester United have been heavily linked with the 32-year-old, alongside his former side Sevilla.
