Inter Milan eye stunning move for Tottenham star

Italian powerhouse Inter Milan are back in the hunt for Tottenham Hotspur’s Jan Vertonghen, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as they look to replace Diego Godin in the summer.

The latter is poised to leave Antonio Conte’s side at the end of the season, while Vertonghen too, will run down his contract that expires in June after eight long years at North London.

The 32-year-old has emerged as one of the finest centre-halves in the game over the years, having amassed just over 300 appearances for Spurs and 118 for Belgium.

He has shown little interest in extending his stay in the Premier League, meaning Inter, who have been long admirers of the defender, could snap him up for free. They however are in the race with fellow Italian sides AS Roma and Napoli.

It would surely be a welcome signing for Inter, owing to the player’s valuable experience and cost-free nature of the transfer.
