Everton news: Marco Silva has been officially sacked by Everton following the 5-2 loss to Liverpool. The Portuguese was appointed in May 2018 and was on borrowed time after a poor start to the season.

Reports suggest Everton were willing to give him more time if he managed to win the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night. However, the Toffees ended up losing 5-2 to the league leaders, who remain unbeaten this season.

Duncan Ferguson will be in charge of Everton against Chelsea this weekend. The Mersey side club are very likely to appoint a new permanent manager before their clash against Manchester United.

David Moyes is touted for a return to the Goodison Park – 6 years after leaving the club for Manchester United. The former West ham and Real Sociedad manager was at the club for 11 years and finished 4th in the league in the 2004/05 season.

Reports suggest that Marcelo Gallardo, Mark Hughes and Eddie Howe were also in the running but the club owners, Farhad Moshiri has decided to appoint David Moyes. Stunning rumour also emerged that Diego Simeone was one of the managers Everton were targeted as well.
