Benfica set to sign Leeds United target

Edinson Cavani is on the verge of signing for Benfica as reports emerged that he has agreed to terms with the Portuguese side according to Football 365.

The 33-year-old highly-rated striker announced that he would be leaving PSG at the end of the season after 7 seasons which saw him winning numerous trophies with the French side.

Since signing from Napoli from 2013, Cavani went on to form a successful partnership with Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the duo went on to achieve success.

The Uruguayan striker also became the club’s all-time top-scorer and is currently a free agent alongside his teammate Thiago Silva who announced that they would be leaving after the season ends.

Football365 reports that Leeds United were interested in acquiring the striker’s services after gaining promotion to the Premier League but that seems unlikely as the newly-promoted side are set to lose the race in signing the coveted South-American striker.
