Barcelona hoping to retain star attacker amid interest from Manchester United
Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has urged Ousmane Dembele to remain at Camp Nou amid interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils were keen on signing the French winger last summer and discussed a season-long loan deal with Barcelona. But talks broke down as Koeman wanted to keep Dembele at the club.
United, who are 20-time Premier League champions, have reportedly turned their attention towards Dembele after failing to land Borussia Dortmund’s £108m-rated winger Jadon Sancho.
Dembele joined Barcelona from Dortmund for €145m, becoming the joint second-most expensive transfer in world football alongside France teammate Paul Pogba. The 23 year-old winger has failed to live up to the billing after his arrival in Spain and he has been criticised for his inconsistency and injury woes.
According to Metro, the Frenchman has a little over one year remaining on his deal with the Catalans and the Red Devils are ready to test Barca’s resolve with a bid this summer
