Jan Oblak has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer and he has not rebuffed the rumours. The goalkeeper was asked ahead of the Atletico Madrid vs RB Leipzig match and he just swept it aside.
The 27-year-old said he was not interested in the rumours right now. He said:
This is not the time for that, now it’s Leipzig. I’ll look back at the season when the last game is over, and hopefully, we’ll have three more [games to play]. Then there will be time to talk. But first, Leipzig. I’m really looking forward to it.”[Via AS]
Oblak has been linked with a World Record move to Chelsea as Frank Lampard is keen on replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga as the Spaniard has not been at his best this season.
Jan Oblak leaves door open for Chelsea move
Jan Oblak added fuel to the fire and said that the club’s targets were met this season but his weren’t. He said:
“There is the goal of the club and its needs [qualifying for the Champions League] and then there is what I had in my head, my hope. This was to compete more with Barca and [Real] Madrid until the end of the season, but it couldn’t be. The club’s target was met, but my hopes weren’t.”[Via AS]
Reports suggest Chelsea are willing to offer Kepa plus cash for Oblak but Atletico Madrid are not interested. The Spanish side are not willing to negotiate and want The Blues to activate the £120 million release clause.
