After a disappointing 2019/20 campaign, Arsenal are looking to pull out all the stops in order to make their 2020/21 season a success.
The Gunners are reportedly lining up a bid for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey in the summer.
Partey has a release clause of £45 million in his current contract which the Gunners are willing to trigger ahead of next season.
The 26-year-old has been one of Atletico’s best players this season and was particularly impressive in their twin Champions League victories over defending champions, Liverpool.
Arsenal have often been accused of lacking bite in midfield and with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all struggling to make the defensive midfielder’s spot their own, manager Mikel Arteta is looking for reinforcements to help fuel the Gunners’ UCL bid.
Partey, meanwhile, has risen through the ranks at Atletico and made over 100 appearances for the Spanish side since debuting in 2015.
