Arsenal have made a late move for Thomas Partey, according to Goal’s Charles Watts. The Atletico Madrid star has been linked with the Gunners for the whole window, but nothing had materialized.
Partey has a €50 million release clause and Atletico Madrid are not willing to accept anything less. They want any club interested in signing the midfielder to activate the clause.
However, as per Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have not received any bid from the Gunners. He reports that the club are still confident of keeping their prized asset at the club this season.
It is to be noted that Arsenal only need to trigger the release clause by depositing the money at LaLiga office and Atletico Madrid need not be contacted directly by the Gunners before signing the player.
Mikel Arteta has been looking to sign a midfielder this summer, but the Arsenal board had not managed to get anyone. Apart from Arsenal, Chelsea were also linked with the Ghanian, but the Blues are yet to make a move.
