After significant speculation during a shoddy season at the Emirates, it finally appears as though Alexandre Lacazette’s Arsenal career might meet the exit ramp sooner than expected, as Spanish outlet AS report that the club are willing to sanction his sale.
Lacazette, despite netting nine goals in all competitions this season has experienced tough going, unlike his record in his first couple of years at North London.
Mikel Arteta is understandably going to give it all in order to keep hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is himself poised to leave with many clubs lurking. However, Lacazette is beyond his plans at Arsenal.
With his contract running until 2022, the Gunners believe it’s the best time to fetch the money for him. Atletico Madrid are touted as favourites, as they prepare to replace the combative Diego Costa.
Lacazette was indeed, set to join the Rojiblancos earlier in 2017, but a transfer ban indefinitely ended all terms.
He is expected to complete that move this summer, as Atleti believe it wouldn’t take much convincing to do, since Arteta is said to not be a fan.
